Cawarden is committed to making a lasting impact that goes beyond delivering exceptional projects – it is dedicated to enriching the communities where it operates. That’s why as part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to social values, the Group Quality Director, Jonathan Groves, recently delivered an engaging and informative presentation at the Priory School in Shrewsbury.
Because Cawarden is actively working on the Smithfield Riverside demolition project nearby, this engagement was a valuable opportunity to connect with the local community and inspire the next generation. The project, undertaken in collaboration with Shropshire Council, aims to revitalise Shrewsbury town centre, and the presentation allowed students to gain firsthand insight into the demolition industry and the varied career paths available within it.
During the presentation, Jonathan highlighted the strong collaboration between site and office teams and showcased Cawarden’s involvement in the Smithfield Riverside project. This included an overview of the demolition of the Riverside Shopping Centre, a key milestone in Shropshire Council’s efforts to transform the town centre. By sharing this real-world example, students gained a deeper understanding of how the industry operates and the impact of such projects on urban development.
The engagement was met with great enthusiasm, with Jeremy Tudor, Acting Assistant Head of Data and Assessment, sharing their appreciation.
Thank you so much for coming in to speak to our Year 11s about the various career pathways available to them in your sector and sharing all the work you’ve done in Shrewsbury on the Riverside Development.”

ASSISTANT HEAD OF DATA & ASSESSMENT
It was great to visit the Priory School and share insight into the demolition industry with the students. Looking ahead, Cawarden remains dedicated to strengthening ties with local communities and fostering the next generation of professionals. Moving into 2025 and beyond, we’re excited to build on these efforts, creating even more opportunities to share our knowledge, expertise, and passion for the industry.”
