Cawarden, a leading specialist contractor, has been awarded the prestigious ‘Environmental Innovation of the Year’ at the 2024 British Demolition Awards and British Asbestos Awards. The event, held on Friday, 6th September, at the Leonardo Royal St Paul’s in London, celebrates excellence within the demolition sector, and Cawarden was proud to once again be recognised.
Having previously won the Environmental Innovation Award in 2022, Cawarden was thrilled to take home the title for a second time, standing out among other top contractors from across the UK. The British Demolition Awards, powered by Demolition Hub and headline sponsored by global machinery leader LiuGong Direct UK, is now in its sixth year and has become one of the most anticipated events in the demolition industry’s calendar.
The award recognises Cawarden’s outstanding efforts in delivering its Edmund Street project in Birmingham city centre sustainably while also giving back to the community. To be considered for the Environmental Innovation of the Year, Cawarden underwent a rigorous judging process, which included a comprehensive written submission and supporting evidence demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainable practices in demolition and its positive impact on local communities.
This recognition highlights Cawarden’s continued leadership in environmental innovation and its dedication to improving the demolition industry’s sustainability practices.
We are proud to have received the Environmental Innovation of the Year award for our efforts at Edmund Street. Throughout the project, we reached a remarkable 98% recycling and redistribution rate for all materials and proudly donated several tonnes of unwanted materials to support the development of the new community centre by Nightlife Outreach. This collaboration reflects our dedication to local communities and sustainable practices. By fostering a circular economy, we minimise waste and emissions, allowing organisations like Nightlife Outreach to focus their resources on other key priorities. We are pleased to be have been recognised for this project as it highlights the significant value of community collaboration and our commitment to cultivating impactful partnerships.”
