Cawarden completes the groundworks for a new 35,800 sq ft manufacturing facility being brought to Derby.
The groundworks for electronic-making company Pektron’s 35,800 sq ft advanced manufacturing facility has been completed, and excellent client feedback confirms the project’s success.
The scope of works included:
- Adoptable foul water and stormwater sewer diversions
- Dredging of an existing drainage ditch to allow earthworks for a new car park
- Vibro stone piling
- Attenuation tank installation
- Pad foundations
- Lift pit foundations
- All internal/external drainage
- New car park and industrial access
The team worked collaboratively with the client and their design team to overcome issues that arose on-site and delivered the scheme on time and within budget.
Despite the challenges presented by the winter weather, the team successfully managed the groundwater and water table to ensure the successful delivery of the scheme.
Early engagement between the client and the contractor was a positive aspect of the project, as it allowed issues to be addressed proactively before they became problems. Throughout the project, weekly face-to-face meetings were held to maintain effective communication levels between the team and the client.
Cawarden were of course unfazed by the scale of the project, always using appropriately massive machinery to move the project forwards. Perhaps the most useful work Cawarden did for us was to keep as much material on site as possible.”
