Transformative project at former Tarmac Plant paves the way for future development opportunities.
Cawarden undertook the role of Principal Contractor for a challenging demolition project spanning five weeks at a former Tarmac plant. Our scope of works encompassed the demolition of structures down to slab level and the responsible removal of demolition waste, emphasising recycling efforts to minimise environmental impact.
Scope of Works
Our team executed site setup procedures, completed asbestos surveys and removal, as well as de-gassing air conditioning units, to ensure safe working conditions.
Employing a diverse range of methodologies and equipment, we systematically demolished all structures, including offices, weighbridge, batching plant, conveyors, silos, hoppers, tanks, and plant.
On completion of the demolition works, we backfilled the basements, voids, and pits to complete our work.
Site Management and Environmental Considerations
Stringent site management protocols were implemented to ensure operational efficiency and safety:
- A dedicated traffic management plan was devised to coordinate vehicle movements on and around the site, prioritising safety at all times and ensuring surrounding businesses remained operational at all times.
- Continuous monitoring of noise, dust, and vibration levels was conducted to mitigate environmental impact and safeguard the wellbeing of the surrounding community and on-site personnel.
Project Completion
Upon project completion, the site was left ready for its next stage of development.
- All segregated material was removed off-site for recycling to minimise environmental footprint.
- Columns were expertly cut off flush with the slab level to mitigate slip, trip, and cut hazards, ensuring a safe and tidy site environment.
