Cawarden headed to Brighton on the 17th April for the inaugural DEMMY Awards, hosted by Demolition Hub, with the seaside setting providing a fitting backdrop for an evening dedicated to celebrating the people behind the UK demolition industry.
Held at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, the event brought together contractors, clients and industry partners from across the country, all with a shared purpose: recognising individual talent, teamwork and standout performance across the profession. Unlike traditional industry awards, the DEMMYs put the spotlight firmly on the operators, managers and specialists who make demolition projects succeed day in, day out.
It proved to be a memorable night for Team Cawarden.
Outstanding Recognition Across the Board
Cawarden was proud to see its people recognised in several highly competitive categories, reflecting the breadth of expertise and commitment across the business.
- High Reach Operator of the Year – Winner: Richard Camp
- Rising Star (Under 30) – Winner: Ryan Dakin
- Project Manager of the Year – Highly Commended: Scott Iceton
- Marketing Manager of the Year – Highly Commended: Emma Attwood
These awards highlight not only technical excellence and leadership, but also the dedication, professionalism and passion that define Cawarden’s approach to specialist contracting.
A Night to Remember
The evening carried extra significance with the attendance of Malcolm Lowes, Cawarden’s Demolition Director and British Demolition Hall of Fame inductee 2025, reinforcing the strong lineage of experience and mentorship within the business.
For those attending, the DEMMY Awards offered more than trophies and applause. They provided a chance to reflect on the role individuals play in shaping standards, driving innovation and raising the profile of the demolition workforce across the UK. Bringing those achievements back to Derbyshire made the success all the more meaningful.
Showcasing the People Behind the Work
In line with the awards’ people‑first ethos, Cawarden’s own nomination videos formed a key part of the judging process. These films captured the skill, care and professionalism involved in each role, offering an authentic window into what excellence looks like on live projects.
The Cawarden nomination videos have been shared internally and across social channels, where they’ve rightly earned strong engagement. For anyone who hasn’t yet seen them, head over to the Cawarden socials for a chance to watch first‑hand the work that impressed both judges and peers alike.
Looking Ahead
Cawarden looks forward to seeing more of its colleagues recognised in future awards, and to continuing its contribution to raising standards and showcasing talent across the industry.
