A regeneration project delivered by Derbyshire‑based specialist contractor Cawarden has received international recognition, securing an International Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Award 2026 for its demonstrable social, environmental, and economic impact.
The award, presented by The CSR Society, recognises individual projects and organisations that show excellence in responsible delivery and measurable CSR outcomes. Cawarden will receive the award at a presentation ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, on 1 June 2026, where Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels will be announced.
The award relates specifically to Cawarden’s work on behalf of Lichfield District Council, where the contractor transformed a redundant multi‑storey car park into the foundations for a new public realm, supporting the city’s wider regeneration strategy.
The project by Cawarden represents the standard of excellence we seek to recognise through the International CSR Excellence Awards. Their approach demonstrates how sustainability can be fully embedded into business strategy while delivering meaningful, measurable benefits for communities, the environment, and stakeholders alike. This is the kind of leadership that drives real and lasting change.”

A Project Delivered with Impact
Throughout delivery between 2024 and 2025, the project placed sustainability, social value, and community engagement at its core. Over 99% of demolition materials were diverted from landfill, with 8,092 of 8,102 tonnes recycled, while transport efficiencies reduced emissions by saving an estimated 20,000 vehicle miles.
In addition to its environmental performance, the scheme generated £1.13 million in independently measured social value, supporting local employment and training opportunities, foodbanks, youth programmes, and community initiatives. More than £114,000 was spent locally within a 30‑mile radius, helping strengthen the regional supply chain and support small and medium‑sized businesses.
All outcomes were tracked and verified through robust reporting, clearly demonstrating the project’s contribution to Lichfield’s regeneration ambitions and wider community benefit.
This award recognises what can be achieved when responsibility is built into a project from the outset. The Lichfield scheme is a strong example of how our teams work collaboratively to deliver environmental, social, and economic value alongside technical excellence. We’re proud of the impact this project has made and delighted to see it recognised at an international level.”
